When are the tennis courts open?  

Vivary Park 

The tennis courts at Vivary Park are open from 8am and close at dusk.  

Taunton Green 

The tennis courts at Taunton Green are open during daylight hours.

Please use the “book a court” tab to view the availability of the courts. At times when the courts are closed, the booking form will be shaded dark grey and you will not be able to book a court. 

 

Do I have to be a resident of Taunton to join or play? 

No, anyone can join. 

 

How much does it cost to play tennis at Vivary Park and Taunton Green? 

There are two ways to pay for a court with Tennis in the Park Taunton: 

Pay to Play 

You can book a court for an hour for £6. 

Annual Household Membership 

For only £36, you can purchase an annual household membership. This membership will give up to 8 members of your household access to the courts at both Taunton sites for a whole year, at no extra cost.

 

How do I book a court? 

You will need to create a free ClubSpark account to book a tennis court. Once you have registered with ClubSpark, you can book a court at Vivary Park on the ‘Book a Court’ page.  

1. Log in to ClubSpark. Use the 'Register' link in the top right of the page. You will be asked to sign in with a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) login to access the booking sheets.

2. Access the ‘Book a Court’ page at either Vivary Park.

3. You will see a booking form which will indicate when the courts are free. Just select the day and time you would like to play and click to book.  

4. Complete your booking and pay. If you have an annual household membership, your booking will be £0. If you are using Pay to Play, you will be charged £6 for an hour slot.  

5. You will receive an email with your booking confirmation and 6-digit PIN code.

6. At your selected time, input an asterisk * then your 6-digit PIN code at the gate to the court. 

7. Open the gate and enjoy your game. 

 

What equipment is included in my booking? 

Your booking will allow you to use your allocated court for the length of your booking. The tennis courts are recently refurbished and include net posts and nets. Please bring your own rackets and balls with you are these are not provided within your booking.  

 

How long will my 6-digit PIN code work for? 

Your 6-digit PIN code will work for 10 minutes either side of your booked slot. 

 

Where can I purchase an annual household membership? 

Head on over to the Membership page for further information and instruction. Payment is made online via our ClubSpark customer system, and the charge is £36 per household per annum. 

 

Once I have an annual household membership, do I still have to pay court fees? 

All courts are free once you have this part of the scheme. Booking restrictions do apply to ensure that all users have a fair opportunity to use courts. Please read the Terms of Use. 

 

How do I add members of my household to my account? 

Go to your account, click ‘member info’ and click ‘add member’, then just enter their name and email address. If you have any problems please contact us. 

 

How can I cancel my court booking? 

You can cancel your booking online. Out of courtesy please cancel as soon as you know so others can play. 

1. Go to the "book a court" page for the correct venue 

2. Log into ClubSpark (top right-hand corner)  

3. Click on your name (top right-hand corner)  

4. Click "My Profile" 

5. Click "Manage Bookings"  

6. Find the booking and click "Cancel" 

You will receive an automatic refund if you cancel a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your session, otherwise a refund will only be given at our discretion. 

 

If I have purchased an Annual Household Membership, am I tied into a contract? 

No. You initially pay for 1 year’s 'usage' and, if you want to carry on using the courts after that, pay for each year's renewal as you go. 

 

If I have purchased an Annual Household Membership, when does my membership start? 

Your membership will start on the date of purchase and last for a year. 

 

What happens if I purchase an Annual Pass through the year? Do I get a reduced fee to pay? 

No, there is no reduced fee. Your membership will start from when you activate your account and last a year. 

 

Once I have paid for a membership, can I cancel part way through my year?  

No, once you have joined and paid for your annual pass this will last a year and not be part refunded for any reason. 

 

Is coaching available? 

We are currently in the process of recruiting coaches. Please keep an eye on our coaching pages for Vivary Park and Taunton Green. If you are interested in becoming a coach please contact us. 

 

If I see damage to the courts who should I tell? 

If you notice the courts are damaged or unsafe please contact us by email at parktennis@somerset.gov.uk so we can investigate and arrange repairs. 

 

Where does the money go that is raised by court bookings? 

Money raised by court bookings and annual household memberships is put to the repair and maintenance of the tennis courts.  

 

Why do I need to book a court? Can I just turn up and play? 

We have installed gate access technology to our park tennis courts and now have an easy-to-use online booking system. You will need a 6-digit PIN to unlock the gate which you will receive when you book a court online. You will not be able to access the courts without prior booking. 

 

My booking was cancelled but I was not informed? 

Please make sure you have opted in to receive communication from us. If you have opted out we will not be able to contact you if we need to cancel your booking, for example if we need to close the tennis courts for maintenance or in high temperatures. 

 

My 6-digit PIN code is not working, what should I do? 

Firstly, please check that you have booked the correct day and time. Your PIN code will only work at the selected time. Secondly, make sure you are inputting the * (asterisk) before your 6-digit code. If you are still having trouble, please contact us on parktennis@somerset.gov.uk

 

Will I need to input the PIN code to exit the tennis courts? 

No, you will only need to input the code when you are entering the courts.
