Social Tennis
Social tennis is important area of WTC. It provides a fun and friendly atmosphere for all members to play casual tennis alongside their coaching and league matches. You will meet other WTC members of all standards, make new friends whilst improving your game!
The format of social sessions is doubles (although the odd game of singles may be possible should numbers allow), with everyone mixing in - changing partners & opponents after each set. Just bring your racquet and join in, balls will be provided.
- First members present to organise opening the clubhouse and toilets (if needed), check the net height and choose 4 tennis balls for each court from the rack in the storeroom.
- Players organise themselves to play Double or Singles depending on number of players present.
- Players organise themselves to play a short set of 7 games.
- Usual “spin” to decide server and handshake at the net to finish! (racket tap during COVID please!).
- The first court to reach its 7th game calls “last game” to the other courts, they will either continue to play until others catch up or agree to stop and mix in.
- Promote good tennis etiquette at all times e.g. fair line calls, positive feedback and healthy competitiveness.
- Ladies, Men’s and Mixed doubles matches are organised to ensure each player has a good and enjoyable session. Short set Singles games are welcome when numbers allow.
- Every member is expected to mix in, be courteous and sociable, welcome new members and encourage fellow members regardless of ability.
- Please utilise the kitchen for drinks and refreshments, clearing up afterwards leaving the clubhouse as you’d expect to find it.
- Invite members to a friendly drink at the WSSC bar afterwards!
