Wealth of tennis opportunities at Cullercoats

The 2019 season at Cullercoats Tennis Club gets underway on 1 April offering a wealth of playing opportunities for all ages and abilities.

New members are most welcome at the club, next to St George’s Church, which has an extensive coaching programme for juniors and adults and social and competitive play for adults.

Membership for juniors, adults and families provides excellent value for money for year-round tennis on the club’s three flood-lit courts, visit www.clubspark.lta.org.uk/CullercoatsLawnTennisClub for more information.

Cullercoats has a thriving junior section with more than 100 youngsters attending the coaching sessions which not only focus on skill and technical development but on fun and enjoyment.

Coaching sessions for all ages take place on Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm (starting 4 April) and Saturdays from 9am to 3pm (starting 6 April) – check website or contact head coach Stuart Cass on stuart.cass4@gmail.com on 07787 543072 for details.

The cost of junior membership is £40 and includes free coaching in April and May, family social doubles tournaments, club tournaments and team matches.

For those children wishing to play competitively, Cullercoats runs various age-group teams and enjoys unparalleled success for a club of its size across the North East. It also has strong links with local schools, giving pupils the opportunity to try out the sport with fun taster sessions.

Adult coaching sessions take place on Sundays (starting 7 April) - 5pm to 6pm for absolute beginners, 6pm to 7.30pm for improvers and team/social club players from 7.30pm to 9pm. These sessions are free for members from April to the end of September.

Club nights (starting 1 April) for adults where members can mix in and play doubles (level and mixed) take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm and are a great way to meet people if you are new to the club.

The club has a number of adult teams which play at various levels giving players who wish to play competitively the chance to do so.
