Abercorn Sports Club held its annual tennis championships finals day on the 28th September 2024. We had a great turn out in the morning juniors competitions with mini competition categories from under-8 to under-18s.

This was followed by the main event, with club members and their friends and family enjoying the finals of our tennis championships, as well as food and drinks in the members lounge.

Thanks to everyone who attended, participated and organised a great event. Particular thanks to head coach Graeme Soutar who gave up his time to coordinate the junior event.

Mark your calendars! The next competitive tennis opportunities at Abercorn will be the Keppie cup on the 2nd of November,  and the Junior Tennis Champs on 26th October 11am-6pm - look out for more details of both soon.

Men's Singles: Mirko Canavero
Mirko is a new champion at the club, defeating Sonny Holmes 7-5 6-3

Women's Singles: Karen Davis
Karen wins again, with a defeat over new finalist Barbara Bartocci 6-1 6-4

Men's Plate: Iain Macrae
New finalist Pietro Rinaldi took Iain to a close match, but ultimately Iain won it 6-4 6-3

Men's Doubles: Robin Burns & John Gannon
Robin and John beat Thomas Potter & Philip Roberts 7-5 6-1 in an enjoyable final 

Women's Doubles: Laura Stewart & Heather Callaghan
Laura and Heather defeated Barbara Bartocci & Kate Nustedt 6-4 7-5 setting Laura up for the potential double-double...

Mixed Doubles: Laura Stewart & Mark Bishop
... which she took, Laura and Mark defeating Kay Haggarty & Pietro Rinaldi in a great final match 6-2 6-3
