If you’re new to tennis, we’ve got everything you need to raise your game with a range of classes for both juniors and adults. Our expert coaches also offer private lessons and junior holiday camps throughout the year. See our Coaching page for more information on our coaches and the classes they offer.

Social tennis

As a friendly community club, we offer regular social tennis sessions so it’s easy to find people to play with, whatever your level. Social tennis takes place every Wednesday from 6-8 pm and Saturday from 2-4 pm. All members are welcome! Head on down to the courts for some friendly doubles practice.

There is also a WhatsApp group for social tennis so you can always check if other people are going before you head to the club or message if you’re looking for folks to play with. Members can email info@abercornsportsclub.co.uk if they’d like to be added.

Club tournaments

We hold an annual Club Championship tournament at the end of the summer, with events for mens and ladies singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles. We also have periodic smaller tournaments like the annual Keppie Cup American Doubles afternoon; keep an eye on your email for upcoming events.

Information for tennis members

Booking

Courts can be booked and ball machine reserved on our Booking page.

SmartAccess Gate

Our new SmartAccess gate provides secure PIN-based entry to our tennis courts. Upon making a booking through our website, you will be given a unique PIN number to access the courts. Note that your PIN will not change with each booking, but it will only allow you access to the courts during your allotted booking time (with a few minutes’ buffer before and afterwards). Your PIN will be in your email confirmation and can also be viewed if you sign in and view your bookings. No PIN is needed to exit the courts and in the event of a power cut, the gate will automatically unlock and stay unlocked.

Floodlights

Floodlights are operated by tokens that cost £1 for half an hour. Tokens can be bought from any committee member or from behind the bar, when open. The light machines are in the foyer of the clubhouse. We are in the process of transitioning to an automatic system that will coordinate lights with court bookings without the need for tokens; more details to come!

Ball machine

Our new Slinger ball machine can be reserved via our Booking page in the same manner as court bookings. You will need to book a court as well for the same time slot as the ball machine. We have installed a secure storage box with a charging port and a combination padlock at the side of the clubhouse next to Court 1. The code for the padlock can be found in your booking confirmation email. To ensure the ball machine is used safely, please note:

-  There is an instruction sheet with the machine that you should read carefully and return to the storage box when finished.

-  The machine can only be booked if you are 18 or over.

-  Please ensure the storage box is locked after returning the machine.

-  After use, please plug the machine back in so it will be charged for the next user.

Group class cancellation policy

Please note that some group tennis class sessions may be cancelled from time to time due to the nature of the Scottish weather. Our coaching team will refund 100% of term fees if 50% of sessions are cancelled. No refunds will be otherwise made.
