Tennis lessons and coaching

We have a comprehensive group coaching program for adults and juniors with classes for all levels. Head to the Coaching page to see what’s on offer. Aside from the beginners classes, you can usually join part way through a coaching block but get in touch with the coaching team directly if you’re unsure. Group coaching is very sociable and is a great way to meet other members.

Non-member court bookings

Non-members are able to book Court 4 at certain times through the LTA Pay & Play Program.

Fixed Weekly Sessions

We have a range of sessions throughout the week to get you involved in match play at all levels.

Beginner/intermediate social mixed doubles tennis

• Saturday 2pm-4pm 2/3 courts

All members are welcome! Head on down to the courts for some friendly doubles practice. This is an inclusive session where doubles skills can be learned and taught, and where patience is encouraged!

There is a WhatsApp group for social tennis so you can always check if other people are going before you head to the club or message if you’re looking for folks to play with at other times. Members can email info@abercornsportsclub.co.uk if they’d like to be added.

Other playing opportunities

East of Scotland LTA Doubles Leagues

The Men’s and Women’s ESLTA leagues are the main inter-club competition that Abercorn competes in. The league runs for 10 weeks from mid-April to the end of June. Abercorn currently has 3 men’s teams and 2 women’s teams. Teams are selected from those attending the weekly club intermediate/advanced doubles tennis sessions. See above for details of these sessions.

Other ESLTA leagues and tournaments

Following the conclusion of the ESLTA Doubles Leagues, the ESLTA run a number of leagues throughout the year. There is a mixed doubles summer league, men’s and women’s veterans and super-veterans leagues, a mixed winter league, a singles knockout league, as well as a one day mixed doubles tournament. Abercorn’s entry into these is purely dependent on member interest so look out for an email around June!

Abercorn Club Championships

Our annual club championships run through the end of the summer, culminating in a fun finals day event in September. We hold men's and women's singles and doubles; and mixed doubles competitions, with junior events too.

Abercorn Singles Tennis Box League

A box league is a way for players of all levels to get match practice against players of a similar standard. Players are initially divided into 'boxes' of 4 players and given a calendar month to get matches played against those in your box. At the end of the month, the player with the most points moves up to the next box and the player with the least points moves down a box. Our box league is for all players from beginners to advanced! The more players involved, the more fun it becomes. Go to the members page to find out how to sign up.

American Doubles and Keppie Cup

A few times a year, the Saturday social session is swapped out for an American Doubles tournament. This is always popular and is designed to be fun for players of all abilities. Lots of short timed sets played with a different partner each time. The Keppie Cup is also a fun doubles tournament and takes place in early November each year. Look out for announcements in the WhatsApp Community and via email.
