Mini Red Fun Tournament!
Sunday 10th June! 10am!
Must be aged 12+ and play on a full ball, all balls and rackets will be provided!
We are running a mini-red fun tournament on Sunday 10th June from 10am. It is open to all adults and juniors aged twelve and over, who play on a full ball. We will be playing short tennis with small racquets and mini-red balls. Teas, coffees and cakes will be available throughout the event. £3 each, payable on the day. Running of Monday Club Night

Match Report
Mens B
Acle B - 32 Stanmore A - 32
After the first mauling last week it was a relief to face a fellow relegation contender with the visit of Stanmore A. The match opened up with the battle of the Blackburns against the Watkinsons, a friendly rivalry which started when Alex and Tom played mini red at the age of 6. The father and son pairings involve Alex and Tom slamming the balls at each other at high velocity while the two Dads try not to get in the way. Ian’s first backhand return to Alex’s serve flew off his racket edge towards the moon before landing on the shed roof. The comedy of errors from the Dads then continued with Adam Watkinson launching his serve into the back of Alex’s head. Just as the Blackburns started to edge ahead a couple of dodgy net cords and Tom breaking his strings temporarily let the Watkinsons back into the game before the Blackburns secured a 10-6 win. On the other court Graham Tate and Joe Ketteringham recovered from a heavy early deficit to tie 8-8. Ian & Tom had a narrow 9-7 victory in their second match, while Graham and Joe did just enough to earn a 32-32 draw and hold on to Acle B’s unbeaten home record which dates back to July 2016.
Winter League Awards Dinner 2018
It was a very successful winter for the club. Acle A took the Division 1 title and Acle B were runners-up in Division 2. Thanks to all the players who participated in the success and to the two highly efficient and strategically astute captains, Andrew Devaney and Paul Chase. The Mens Open event was won by Ian and Tom Blackburn in an all Acle final against Damian Lake and Hugo Westveer, while the Mens Over 45 Doubles was won by Ian Blackburn and Andrew Devaney.
Southwold Ladies Double Coaching, Lunch and Tournament in aid of Dementia UK
There is a ladies double coaching and tournament taking place on Saturday 16th June 10am-16:30pm at St Felix School, Southwold. It cost £50 and includes professional coaching, lunch, tournament and you don’t need a partner to enter. Please see the attachment for more details or call 07801014151 to book a place.
Tennis For Kids
We have now completed week 2 of our 6 week course for children new to tennis aged between 4-11. For £25 they get 6 lessons a racket, personalised T-shirt and balls. More courses are running in June so if you know anyone who would like to try tennis for the first time this a great fun introduction. Sign up via www.tennisforkids.co.uk

All sessions open to all ages and abilities. No need to book a place just turn up, pay and play. These are friendly relaxed groups, offering the chance to have fun while getting fit at the same time. We would love to see more members playing on a regular basis. Sessions often end with a well- earned drink in the social club.

Other Bits & Bobs
▪Don't forget that you can buy new balls from the club. Please call Mike Lake on 01493750337 or see Ann Nicholls down at the courts.
▪Money in the safe: could all members please put a note with any money put into the safe detailing who the money is from and what it is for. Please also make sure the club room door locks properly when you leave.
▪Members with a guest: Reminder for members who attend the courts with a guest to kindly put the names on the form pinned to the Club Room wall and put a note with the payment before depositing it in the safe. There are pens, paper and bags provided.
