ACE Awards

ATA ACE Awards - New for 2022!

Version 2.0

Background

‘The Aim is the Game’

'Tennis is a Tactical Game and Technique is used to achieve those Tactics'.

The ATA Ace Awards  are part of our tennis coaching programme's core syllabus. The Awards are an attempt to codify the technical and tactical learning of tennis primarily for children, but could also be used for adults. The system provides specific tasks to work through in a sequential order, with the child receiving an 'Emoji Sticker' for each successfully completed task, once they have completed all the tasks at that Grade they receive a certificate with their award.  The ACE Awards allow children to have great continuity whether coming to classes, camps or practising at home with parents or friends, giving clarity on what the child is working on and focusing practice to improve at the fastest possible rate.

The system is new and we by no means consider the ACE Awards finished or complete and we will continue to learn, mould, adapt, update and improve the system over time.

Whilst we at ATA have put the ACE Awards together the content for the ACE Awards they has been heavily influenced by the great body of tennis coaches, scientists and writers we have had privilege to learn from over the years,  Brad Langevad (Techniques and Tactics), Oscar Wegner (Simple early stage learning), Adrian Rattenbury (RPT), Andy Dowsett (System 9 Tennis), Craig O’Shanessey (Brain Game Tennis and Tactics / Stats Expert).

To remain concise the ACE Awards do not puport to be everything a child must learn in order to acheive tennis excellence. Whilst we hope the system will help children optimise their technique, tactics and matchplay, there are many physical and mental aspacts of the game that the ACE Awards do not cover, these are also extremly important components of training for children to reach their potential and these should be worked on separately and we do so within our coaching programme.
