During more normal times, we have competitions, open days, new courses for beginners... At the moment due to Covid-19, Box Leagues are running and we're pleased say Tea & Tennis and Club Night are back!
Lots of Tennis Opportunties for Club Members
Any members who would like to play a few extra games can join the box league - usually we have four in a box, so that's three games to be played over about five weeks. You'll be with people of roughly the same ability, so expect very competitive games!
Sunday Afternoon - Tea and Tennis from 4.00pm.
Play a couple of sets, relax and chat with a cup of tea and some cake. Then play some more! All members welcome, this is a very sociable and relaxed way to play tennis. Offical restart following Covid restrictions is Aug 2nd 2020. Booking is essential at the moment but it's a simple process that's open to all members.
Club Nights - Mondays from 7.00pm
All members are welcome to take part in Club nights. If you're new to the club just come down and get on court where you'll soon find new friends and playing partners. There are no restrictions on the floodlights so you can play as late as you want to. At present Covid restrictions mean that members have to book a place before they arrive but it's a very simple process and doesn't change the friendly welcome everyone gets.
Look out for the American Doubles events that are held occasionally on Mondays.
Match Practice - Tuesdays from 7.00pm
Members who play, or aspire to play, for our senior league teams are welcome to match practice. The club enters teams in summer and winter leagues and new players are always welcome. Teams play in various divisions of the leagues, so most players who enjoy competitive matches get a game. Selection for teams is on merit, not seniority. Some of our junior players come to the practice sessions at the invitation of the coach or team captains.
If you want a good workout then join a Cardio Tennis session. Our Head Coach, Toby Huddlestone will be re-starting these sessions in the near future.
Our tennis programme is undergoing a major refresh. We're working with Toby, our Head Coach to introduce a whole range of activities for all ages, which will be starting soon. Watch for news on the website and social media pages for news.
Get more involved by volunteering
We are always looking for extra help for all sorts of little jobs - whether it is hanging up nets, keeping the weeds at bay, clearing out rubbish, mending fences, sorting out software, applying for grants, taking photos... we are so grateful to all our members who give up their time to help out with tasks large and small. If you'd like to become even more involved, you are welcome to join the committee, and then you can do exciting things like plan the open days and agree how much membership fees will be! To offer help, or enquire about the committee email Maggie.
