Barnton Park LTC - Health & Safety
A brief reminder on health and safety as we start a new season. Please take the time to read this email as some things have changed since last year.
Defibrillator
The Club installed a defibrillator last year. It is situated on the outside wall of the clubhouse so can be accessed by the community as well as club members.
If members need access to the defibrillator in an emergency, the code to unlock the cabinet is C159X. In the first instance call for help, and call 999.
You do not need training to use the defibrillator; anyone can use it. Once you turn it on, it gives clear step by step voice instructions to follow.
The defibrillator checks the person's heart rhythm and will only give them a shock if it is needed.
Although we now have the defibrillator in place we hope that we will never have to use it. However, it is very reassuring to know that it is there if ever we do!
If you would like to see more on how to use it this is a very good short video to watch by St John Scotland: Copy the link and open. https://youtu.be/uGHWARFdChU?si=WlajwfCdhhV0Exi6
Fire Safety
The club recently had a Fire Risk Assessment. Just a few things to bring to your attention.
The double door has been fitted with a new lock with a rotating knob. This means you can open the double doors from the inside, with no key needed.
Please unplug all appliances from sockets after use.
Please don't bring personal appliances to the clubhouse without checking with a committee member.
Please be careful when you are charging mobile phones, iPad and laptops. Don't leave them unattended. It is really important to unplug devices from chargers (and chargers from sockets) after use.
If battery devices go on fire, please do not use the existing club fire extinguishers. It would not extinguish a lithium battery fire. CALL THE FIRE BRIGADE ON 999.
If a fire was to break out in the clubhouse, then follow the evacuation procedures attached. These will also be posted in the clubhouse.
