Please find below details of the Mini Tennis Age Groups we use at Beauchief Tennis Club. We appreciate that everyone starts and progresses their tennis journey and different times so these ages are a guideline only. Please get in touch with the coaching team for help on which course is suitable for your child.
We pride ourselves on having a very passionate, hardworking coaching team who provide a pathway for juniors of all ages and abilities .

Tiny Tots (3-5 years)
Tiny Tennis is for those little nippers who require some fundamental skills with tennis wrapped into it. The session provides lots of different balls skills, balancing an co-ordination games with an introduction to using the racket and hitting over the net.
Mini Red (5-8 years)
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
Mini Orange (8 & 9 Years)
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red. It is played with appropriately sized rackets, lower pressurized balls with a bigger and wider court. However, the smaller than full-size tennis courts still allows players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.
Green Ball Tennis (10 years)
Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. It is played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.
Full Ball Tennis (11+)
Full ball tennis is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Green. It is played on a full size court with full compression yellow balls and is the final stage of junior tennis helping players progress through to adult tennis.
Girls Groups (10+)
We are really focused on attracting more girls to the sport and keeping them playing from junior to senior level. These groups give girls an opportunity to train separately from the boys.
Home Education Sessions
For Home educated children aged 5-16
We are proud of our links to the home schooling community and welcome parents and players to come and get involved at our club.
BTC Academy Sessions
The academy is for players (and parents) who are willing to show more commitment to their tennis. With more hours of tennis per week, training camps during the holidays, an expectancy to compete outside of the sessions in tournaments and team events. We also encourage players to have 1-1 sessions where possible to complement their group sessions and match play.
Family Night Fun & Games (All Ages + Adults)
Family Night is a chance for juniors and adults to come and have some fun at the club, let off some steam and socialise. A great way to meet new people at the club and let your hair down. There is no formal coaching involved, just organised fun and games.
1-1 sessions
We have a team of coaches dedicated to providing high quality 1-1 coaching for those seeking that little extra help with thier game on an individual basis.
Please contact the Coaching Team directly to book.
