Ball Machine

The Club has a ball machine that can be hired out to members for £5 per half hour subject to court hire.

Health and Safety

Please note the ball machine is powered by a battery and it cannot be used in wet or damp conditions.  Please bear this in mind when hiring.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to use the machine.

Never put your hand into the machine nor walk in front of the machine when it is still live, it may look like it has finished firing but there can often be one ball still pending.

The ball machine can be hired out by any member of the club but they MUST complete a 'familiarity' session before they are able to book it out. This is with Lawrence Rook. Please contact Lawrence on lawrence.rook14@gmail.com  to book in your familiarity session.

The session covers:

- Health & safety

- booking procedure

- machine programming and use

- charging

- care

The Ball Machine lives in the cupboard in the Main club room.

Do’s

  • Booking must be made via our court booking system every time you wish to hire the ball machine. It is in the court booking system as “Ball Machine” next to court 8 so you will need to scroll across.
  • Only use on court 1, 4, or 5 . Ideally Court 4 to minimise the impact on other players and at busy times play your shots into a corner.
  • The Ball Machine must be booked and paid for before use.
  • Bookings are £5 for half an hour. When you book out the ball machine court it will ask you for your payment.
  • Do use the balls that are provided in the hopper. These are special unpressurised balls.
  • Do take it down the ramp/path to the left of the clubhouse and over the grass to the courts to avoid damaging the sensors.
  • If it is the first time that you have used the Ball Machine after the familiarity training session, please ensure that you are familiar with the operating instructions. There are also quick start instructions attached to the Ball Machine.
  • Please make sure you have picked up any balls that have moved off your court or outside of your court so that the next people have the right number of balls and the correct balls to use.
  • You must return the Ball Machine with the supplied balls to the cupboard, at the end of your session.
  • Please plug the Ball Machine in to recharge after use unless otherwise instructed. It has a smart charger so you do not need to worry about it being turned off later.
  • Please ensure the remote control has been returned with the ball machine.

Don’ts

  • Do not use any other balls in the machine.
  • Do not take the Ball Machine down the clubhouse steps
  • Do not take the Ball Machine on the uneven surface between court 5 and 6 as this damages the legs.
  • Please ensure that you do not exceed your booking time.
  • Please be considerate to other court users.
  • Do not use the Ball Machine near match play.
  • Do not use the Ball Machine in wet conditions.

Please do have a go with the Ball Machine and let us have any feedback after your familiarity session to lawrence.rook14@gmail.com
