Squash and Racketball

Squash

We have 3 squash courts all with spacious viewing galleries. The courts are regularly redecorated and maintained to a high standard including dehumidifiers and heating. This provides good competitive facilities for our teams playing in the Sussex Leagues

At Cooden we are proud of our squash section which continues to maintain healthy numbers. We currently have approximately 50 members of whom 30 play regularly in our monthly leagues.

In addition we welcome newcomers of all ages to attend our Squash Club afternoons on Saturdays between 4.00pm and 6.30pm. This is the ideal opportunity for new or prospective members to come and enjoy a friendly game with some of the existing squash members. Players rotate courts regularly and so you get to play a variety of opponents of all levels. A further Squash Club session is held on Wednesday evenings

Anyone wishing for further information should contact our Club Manager, or Jon Merrick, Chairman of the squash section directly by e-mail to jonmerrick2@gmail.com

Internal Leagues
Squash members have the opportunity to play in internal leagues throughout the year. Players of all abilities are able to participate, starting in the lower leagues with the chance to progress month on month up the league tables, helping players to improve their skills and gradually compete against better players.

The leagues form the clubs prestigious “Order of Merit” in which players earn points for their performances each month, culminating each season in awards for the top 3 point scoring players over the season’s duration.

Presentation Evening
The annual awards and trophies are presented at the club’s annual presentation night which combines tennis and squash awards and is held in October each year.

Club Tournaments
The following tournaments are held annually:

Club Championship & Plate
Club Handicap
Gareth Payne Memorial Handicap
Drawn Doubles

Racketball

With a vibrant and friendly group of players of all ages and abilities, the Racketball leagues were started at the club at the end of 2010. We currently have around 30 players enthusiastically participating in 4 leagues, covering all standards and abilities.

Whilst the standard at the club continues to improve, we maintain a fun and friendly manner by all those playing.

We continuously welcome any new players or beginners completely new to the game. If you would just like to have a go, to see if Racketball is for you, please give us a call, and we will be happy to arrange a friendly game with a suitable opponent from the club (we can even lend you a racket!).

Equally, when winter bites and the weather becomes adverse, it’s a great way for our tennis players to continue to play indoors at Cooden, with the emphasis being on fun, albeit maybe still competitive fun.

If you would like to discuss any issues to do with Racketball at Cooden, please contact the Manager on 01424 844810 or email info@cbssc.co.uk

Court Booking

All squash and racketball court time must be paid for  either by booking through our online Court Booking system or by sticking a £2 stamp for the chosen day, court and time on the daily court booking sheets which are found in the corridor outside the squash courts. Times for inter-club matches are marked on these sheets, but the courts are available for members at all other times.
