Club championships
Each summer we run our prestigious club championships, which comprises competitions in women's and men's singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles. Entry typically opens in early summer and is open to all members.
The exact format of the competitions varies (partly based on the number of participants), but they always end in a knockout format. We typically also run consolation draws for those who exit the singles competitions early.
We make an event out of the finals of each draw and aim to run them on a weekend in late summer. The finals are umpired (by members) and we set up a viewing area on the hard courts with play on the clay. Winners of the main draws have their name added to our wooden board displayed in the heart of our clubhouse.
Want to help?
We're always looking for volunteers to help run the championships. Duties include deciding on a specific format for each competition, handling communications and gathering entries, working out seeding and draws, keeping on top of the tight schedule, and planning and running the finals day(s). If you'd like to help out, contact our communications and internal competitions officer Ynda via the details on the Our team page.
