Newcomer competitions

Newcomer competitions will run in Summer and Autumn terms, encourage young players of all ages to start playing matches.  These competitions aren’t just for newcomers to tennis but for all young players who don't have much (or any) experience of playing matches.

This is all about fun and learning, not winning or losing.  It can also be an ideal learning experience for parents and others interested in volunteering at competitions.

We send in the results of all qualifying matches but most events are just for fun, and prizes!

Play Your Way To Wimbledon

Play Your Way To Wimbledon (previously Road To Wimbledon) uses the biggest event in British tennis as an incentive to young players.  Qualifying singles competitions are held in clubs during April to June.  County finals are held in June.  National Finals are played on the grass courts at Wimbledon in August.

For most of our young players, this is a great chance to play in a fun competition at the club.  For the winners and runners-up, it’s a chance to meet and play against the top young players from other East of Scotland clubs…..and maybe more!  Since 2014, five Dunfermline juniors have played their way to Wimbledon!

For 2025, there are also Open events for adult players.

Winter, Easter and Autumn Series

The club’s Winter, Easter and Autumn series include lots of competitive events, during the Fife schools’ holidays, for players aged 6 to 14 years.  All events are played in a format where players have as many matches as possible.  The Autumn Series also includes Men's Singles and Women's Doubles events.

The events appear on the LTA website, and they’re organised and played under LTA Competition Regulations.  Each event is either Matchplay (Grade 6) or Local Tour (Grade 5).  Entry is online and all results are submitted to the LTA.

These events give local players a great chance to get some competitive match experience without having to travel far.

Our 2025 programme kicks off with these Winter Series matchplay competitions.....open for entry now or very soon:

Easter  Series events have been published.....entries open fron 19th February:
