Club Then & Now
Moorpool Tennis Club was established in 1910 and is apart of the Moorpool Hertigate Trust Estate - a vision of John Sutton Nettlefold. His vision was inspired by the Garden City Movement as pioneered by Ebeneser Howard.
Moorpool Tennis Club is on the original site of the Bowls Club and provides two shale courts alongside a small clubhouse which houses the ever popular table tennis table. Views of the Nettlefold Garden can be seen across the way while the club provides a peaceful environment to play tennis and socialise in due to its surrounding greenery.
Moorpool Tennis Club has been a hub of activity within the harborne area for over 110 years and holds a strong and diverse membership base while maintaining a family atmosphere for all to enjoy. The men's and women's team compete in the local leagues and are always played in good spirits along with the various annual Doubles Tournament for all ability levels.
More recent developments for the club has seen the expanding of coaching classes and new activities such as yoga introduced, taking place on 'The Lawn' at the club. With more plans to utilise the unique space the club offers each passing year including pop-up events and the annual Heritage Day, Moorpool Tennis Club continues to be at the heart of the community.
Moor Pool Estate have created a 'Self Guided Tour' Leaflet of this unique area within Birmingham. See the link below for further details:
