After successfully gaining promotion last year , on a half decent night weather wise, the  Needingworth Men’s 2nd team met Soham, last year’s division 5 champions.  Having Sam and Ben in last year’s team didn’t help and Needingworth were outclassed and lost  6-2.  However, just to put everything into perspective, on their way to winning the division, Soham only conceded 7 sets so to get any sort of result was always going to be a tall order.

Tim and Mark B had the pleasure of taking on the Hobbs, and despite all their best efforts, could only win 1 game.  Up against David and Graham on the other court, John F and Josh did a little better, managing to double the amount of games won to 2.

In a surprise turnaround in the 2nd rubber, the Needingworth 1st pair upped their game and although losing, the scores on the door looked much more competitive.  John and Josh on the other hand, surpassed themselves against the Soham No 1s and really gave them a hard time in their 2nd set and at one point, even had a set point against them.  Sadly, this was going to be a night the Needingworth team would go down 8-0 to a very strong team on their way to yet another promotion as Champions.  The Needingworth Men’s 1st team need to watch out – Soham’s a coming.
