About Us
We at New Earswick Tennis Club believe that playing sports, staying fit and working out is vital to the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. In today's climate, especially, being active brings significant benefits to not only your physical well being, but equally important your mental well being.
New Earswick Tennis Club is one of the oldest in York having being established with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and previously situated just behind the Folk Hall in New Earswick village. In 2017 the club relocated and integrated with the New Earswick Sports Club.
We have 3 all weather and floodlit courts.
The club is a member of the Lawn Tennis Association.
We are a friendly club and encourage everyone to play. All abilities are welcome.
New Earswick Sports & Social Club
The Sports Club features three floodlit tennis courts, one of which is a multipurpose game area, three adult and two junior football pitches, one of the biggest cricket fields in the York area complete with covers and sight screens and two rugby pitches which can be configured for either rugby league or rugby union.
The club has six changing rooms with showers and additional officials changing rooms
It features a fully licenced bar, pool table, dart board, BT Sport and a kitchen for post match snacks and bar food. The main bar seats 160 and the meeting room 20.
The club facilities can be hired out, we have the main bar area and a smaller classroom/meeting room with bar access, as well as the sports facilities which can be hired.
Club Activities
Club nights are on a Tuesday from 6.30pm (most of the year, weather permitting). But during the match season, there may be a match that would need to take precedent. We do aim to minimise those times though.
As a member you can also arrange and book to play at other times provided there are no matches. There are several 'group's organsing regular matches, so finding a game wouldnt be a problem.
We currently have the following teams entered in the York Tennis Leagues (when they resume):
2 mixed, 1 ladies, 1 mens.
Juniors are very welcome, with coaching ran by 'Over-the-net with Sasha'. Over The Net Tennis Coaching is run by Level 3 LTA qualified tennis coach, Sasha Taylor. She is based around several clubs and schools in the York and Selby area. We ask that Juniors taking the coaching join the club to ensure insurance cover.
We also organise family open days, seasonal competitions and have many social events like the annual Christmas party.
