Enter the 2024 Club Championships
The Club Championships are back for 2024 - with congratulations to the members who were victorious last year! Please note: the registration process is now closed and the championships are in progress. This year, the championships will be knock-out competitions rather than having an initial round-robin stage. The number of rounds will, of course depend on the number of entrants. We will be using a format inspired by the FA Cup, where all 10 levels of English football enter but teams in the higher leagues receive byes into the later rounds. We hope that this will encourage many more of our enthusiastic members with less experience of competitive tennis to enter, knowing that their early matches will be against members of a similar standard. The Championship Organising Committee will review all the entries and create as fair a draw as possible for each category. Advice from Damian Lane and the team captains will be sought to assist in this process. As in previous years, there will be five categories open to all members: Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The autumn timing will mean that there's plenty of court time, and the knock-out format will make it easier to arrange your matches. The aim is to complete the Championships by the end of October. Juniors are welcome to enter the main draw - but look out for the Under-19's handicap Championship running this autumn too! |
New this Year - Under-19's Championship - Enter Now!
New for this year is an under-19s boys singles and under-19 girls singles handicap tournament. It’s a knock-out format and the handicap system will enable juniors of different ages and abilities to enjoy competitive matches. Its an opportunity for juniors to play more tennis over the autumn. Each match will consist of 3 short sets - the first to 4 games with a 2 game margin wins the set. And, under-19s can also enter the adult competitions if they wish. Please note: the registration process is now closed and the championship is in progress. |
