Fun American Tournament - Sunday 29th September - Open for Booking!
Our End of Season, fun American Tournament on 29th September 2024. at 13:00 - 16:00 Everyone is welcome to enter - you just need to be able to serve and sustain a rally. The format is that you will play short matches of just four games with lots of different partners, so you don't need a partner to enter. Juniors who can play with normal balls, serve and sustain a rally are also very welcome to enter. The number of players is limited to 24, so book early! It's free to enter and there will be prizes. Keeping to our tradition, we will have a raffle to continue our club fundraising - raffle prizes would be much appreciated. Bring your own picnic and drinks to sustain you during the tournament. Family and friends are very welcome to spectate and enjoy the tennis. We will be hoping for good weather! The AGM will follow the tournament at 16:00. This is usually short and will be completed by 17:00. The formal AGM information will be emailed to members shortly. We will be serving tea and cake from 15:30 to accompany the tournament prize giving and the AGM. Even if you can't take part in the tournament, come along at 15:30 for refreshments, the prize giving and the AGM to celebrate the success of the club this year. Enter the 2024 Club Championships
The Club Championships are back for 2024 - with congratulations to the members who were victorious last year! This year, the championships will be knock-out competitions rather than having an initial round-robin stage. The number of rounds will, of course depend on the number of entrants. Please do enter, even if you’ve not done before, as we will be using a format inspired by the FA Cup, where all 10 levels of English football enter but teams in the higher leagues receive byes into the later rounds. We hope that this will encourage many more of our enthusiastic members with less experience of competitive tennis to enter, knowing that their early matches will be against members of a similar standard. The Championship Organising Committee will review all the entries and create as fair a draw as possible for each category. Advice from Damian Lane and the team captains will be sought to assist in this process. As in previous years, there will be five categories open to all members: Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The autumn timing will mean that there's plenty of court time, and the knock-out format will make it easier to arrange your matches. The aim is to complete the Championships by the end of October. Juniors are welcome to enter the main draw - but look out for the Under-19's handicap Championship running this autumn too! To enter, complete this short form before 31st August |
New this Year - Under-19's Championship - Enter Now!
New for this year is an under-19s boys singles and under-19 girls singles handicap tournament. It’s a knock-out format and the handicap system will enable juniors of different ages and abilities to enjoy competitive matches. Its an opportunity for juniors to play more tennis over the autumn. Each match will consist of 3 short sets - the first to 4 games with a 2 game margin wins the set. Parents - enter your junior(s) using this form before 31st August! Please complete one form per junior. And, under-19s can also enter the adult competitions if they wish. |
