Reedham Park Sports Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents/guardians associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others.
Do:
- Make sure the court surface is not unsafe before your child plays on it e.g. icy
- Make sure your child is wearing correct tennis wear including tennis shoes.
- Encourage your child to learn the rules of tennis and play within them.
- Encourage your child to respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background, religious beliefs or sexual identity.
- Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
- Make your first question: ‘Did you enjoy it?’ not ‘Did you win?’
- Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of all.
- Not punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
- Publicly accept judgements made by officials.
- Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport. Never force your child to take part in sport.
- Use correct and proper language at all times.
- Allow your child to play in the mini tennis colour stage that is appropriate to them. This will ensure they enjoy playing the game, develop their skills and gain confidence.
- Be patient. Steady progression is unusual in children; peaks and plateaus are common.
- Just enjoy the game and let the officials take care of the rules. At no stage should you communicate with your child or interfere with the on-court helpers.
By signing and returning the junior membership form, you agreed to your child taking part in the general activities of the club. You are confirming that he/she has read and agreed to follow the junior code of conduct and you agree to accept the code of conduct for parents.
Juniors under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Junior Members remain the responsibility of their parents at all times when attending the Club’s premises or at any other event organised by the club whether at home or away.
Juniors are not allowed in the clubhouse unless accompanied by a senior member.
Parents must sign the register when dropping off and collecting their child and must inform the coach if they give permission for their child to travel unsupervised. They must inform the coach if their child is being collected by someone else.
Parents who are leaving their children at the club do so at their own risk, and no liability, under any circumstances arising from any cause whatsoever, will be the responsibility of Reedham Park Sports Club.
To your knowledge, your child has no special care needs, dietary requirements, allergies or medical conditions that could affect his/her safety at the club, other than those declared on the membership form.
I understand that in the event of any injury, illness or other medical need, all reasonable steps will be taken to contact me, and to deal with the situation appropriately.
