REED'S SCHOOL

 REGIONAL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (RPDC)

CODE OF CONDUCT

Reed's School and Reed's School Tennis Academy look forward to welcoming the selected Regional players in September 2023.

Access to Reed's School/RPDC supported by LTA grant funding is a privilege and the following code of conduct needs to be agreed and adhered to at all times, as we have worked hard to develop a hard working and professional culture to help players develop as much as they can. We expect players and parents that join the reeds programme to help maintain and improve that culture.

  • RPDC players and parents are requested to treat the tennis facility and all areas within Reed's School with respect at all times. Players will be required to clear the courts of all litter and personal belongings at the end of each session.

  • Parents will receive the termly charge before the start of term. Payment must be made within 2 weeks of being sent. If payment is not received in this period, the player will not be able to commence training until the payment is received.

  • Advertised session start times should be adhered to. This allows for proper warm-ups, etc.

  • Parents are responsible for advising the lead coach in advance if any player is on medication or has allergies.

  • RPDC players attending tournaments are ambassadors for Reed's School/RPDC.  Any breaches of rules or procedures which bring Reed's School/RSTA into disrepute will be considered both by Reed's School and the LTA and access privileges may be withdrawn.

  • RPDC players will be expected to work hard regardless of who they are training with, and should expect to train with a variety of different players.

  • Parent behaviours – We believe that the relationship between the coaching team and the parents is vital for a players development. We will endeavour to maintain a strong relationship through regular communication around sessions, at tournaments, via email and with termly reviews. Parents are allowed to watch the final 30 minutes of each session. We politely ask that whilst watching sessions you do not interact with the players or coaches unless invited to. We politely ask that when Reed’s coaches are providing tournament support the coaches will manage the practice session and are able to engage in pre match and post match conversations with the players.

  • Minor misconduct - such as bad attitude, i.e. racket throwing, bad language, disrespect to coaches, will be dealt with by the Head Professional who will give informal advice and counselling to the player. If it continues players may well be taken out of or miss sessions. This procedure exists to encourage players to conform to their agreed responsibilities and disciplines. Minor misconducts will be recorded. If the poor conduct persists the players place in the RPDC will be reviewed. Parents behaviours that fail to comply with the ones outlined above will also fall into minor misconduct and follow the same procedure.

  • Gross misconduct – Certain breaches of rules or procedures are serious enough to commence the disciplinary procedures at any level. Listed below are acts that fall into this category.

Any act of discrimination, harassment or bullying

Deliberate breaches of health and safety

Damage to RSTA property

Physical abuse or stealing

Any other acts which in common sense terms could be considered seriously unacceptable behaviour

Gross misconduct can lead to instant dismissal from the RPDC and termination of contract

  • Any RPDC player/parent committing acts outside Reed's School/RSTA/Reed’s RPDC which bring Reed's School/RSTA/Reed’s RPDC into disrepute could, after discussion with the LTA, result in loss of access facilities. This would be any action which attracts Police involvement or in common sense terms could be considered as seriously unacceptable behaviour.

  • Health & Safety is extremely important at Reed's School/RSTA/Reed’s RPDC.  The Head Professional is responsible for promoting good practice.  All coaches and RPDC players will cooperate to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.  Main responsibilities are:

  • Take reasonable care for your own safety

  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of all personnel who may be affected by what you do or do not do.

  • Cooperate at all times with any steps taken by RSTA to meet its statutory obligations.
