Simplified handicaps / More matches / Easier Matchplay
Our annual Gary Greenwood tournament is a fun mixed doubles social tournament open to players of all abilities. Entering indvidually, your partner is chosen at random. You are then assigned a handicap based on the strength of your pairing. If we get the handicaps correct then everyone should have a chance of winning each match.
If you are new to the club, it is a great way to meet other members. For existing members, it is a chance to enter a tournament where everyone has an equal chance of winning no matter age, experience or ability.
Changes for 2025:
- round robin group stage to ensure every pair gets to play a few games together. The winners of the groups will go through to a knock out stage.
- handicaps will be easier to understand this year
- support to reserve courts in advance for matches.
- simpler match play
- assigned substitute if a player has to withdraw for injury
To enter the tournament, please follow this link: Gary Greenwood 2025 Entry. The final this year will be played on Sunday 13th July - if you enter the tournament, please ensure you are available for the final as everyone has a good chance of making it!
