Garden Party Fun

Southwell Tennis Club was pleased to support the annual Garden Party on 8th June organised by the town council. This year we tried something a bit different and opened the courts for anyone to have a go at tennis, walking tennis or pickleball. Members of the club were on hand to run these fun and informal sessions.

A number of families including some young children benefited from racquet skills activities organised by club coach, Jason. Friendly games followed.

We were pleased to welcome Steve and Jill to the courts. Former residents of Southwell, they moved to Brisbane in Australia decades ago and were visiting Southwell to catch up with family and friends. Both are keen pickleball players in Brisbane and wanted to take advantage of the court availability. They were happy to mix in with anyone who was interested in playing and learning more about the sport, and were able to share a few tips and tactics on how to improve. It was great to meet them and we hope to see them in a couple of years if they are able to visit again.
There are already pickleball groups in the town, but if you’re a Tennis Club member you are able to set up any of our three courts temporarily as pickleball courts, just ask one of the committee members for more information.
