This exciting upgrade not only benefits our entire membership as well as our neighbours with the reduced light pollution, but furthermore provides more availability for junior and working members in the autumn and winter evenings, better coaching opportunities and more accessible tennis for visually impaired members.
The LED floodlight upgrade to courts 4, 5, and 6 was completed on schedule and the improvement in not only the light levels but the uniformity of light was plain to see when the lights were first tested on 23/08/2023. The minimal light pollution outside of the court, is due to the advanced technology of the Athlima light fittings which focuses the light from each LED to the court and playing area. This is in addition to the environmental benefits to club and wider community, reduced energy consumption and long-life maintenance free LED units, which come with a 7 year warranty.
