Box league

Action kicks off on Saturday, February 24th, and continues for 8 weeks, concluding on April 20th. Keep an eye out for group announcements as we approach the start date.

 

We encourage you to spread the word about the Box League to both your fellow members and any potential new members eager to join our exciting leagues.
 
Here’s what you need to know about signing up:

  • Box League Entry Deadline: Wednesday, February 21th.  Please consider signing up early to address any potential system issues.
  • Automatic Rollover: If you participated last time and wish to continue, your entry will be automatically carried over. However, if you’d like to withdraw, please email Matt at matthew_hardwick@icloud.com
  • New Entrants: If you’re new to the Box Leagues, simply follow this link Stamford Tennis Club - Box League | LTA - Tennis for Britain.   Log in to LTA Competitions with your LTA login and proceed from there.
  • If you don’t have an LTA login, sign up as a Play, Play+, or Complete member, and you’ll be ready to enter competitions. Sign up here Sign up to Advantage.

Box League Facts:

  • Develop your competitive singles or doubles game by playing matches with players of a similar level
  • The league will be managed through the Box League Management System on the LTA's Competition website
  • Each match will count towards your new International Tennis Federation (ITF) rating. This is the perfect opportunity to make a start or continue developing your rating
  • There are no entry requirements apart from membership of STC. There is no entry fee
  • Players will be split into groups depending on their current rating and ability
  • You will have to play each player in your group once
  • Please keep to the timescales to ensure all matches are played by the finish date
  • At the end of each round players will be promoted or relegated to another group depending on their final position
  • The league will be administered by Matt Hardwick

 
Format / Rules:

  • Players should contact their opponent using the contact details on the LTA box league system
  • Players should book their own courts
  • New balls should be provided by the players, with the costs shared. Club balls should not be used for box league matches
  • Best of 3 tiebreak sets, final set match tiebreak to 10
  • Results to be submitted by players on the LTA box league system. The Box League manager (Matt) can amend results if required
