Advanced & PDC Programmes

The bulk of our junior sessions are are 'Youth' groups for children who typically play weekly to improve skills, enjoy the game, and benefit socially. We run a range of more advanced programmes with a quick-guide below, each partner club has a different make-up of these sessions depending on its player-base.

Advanced 'Player' Squads

These can occur at any age from 8U Red to 18U Yellow ball. They are simply a more advanced session following a game/match-based approach, for juniors who demonstrate:

  • Enjoyment of the game.
  • Commitment to Club Membership and a desire to play outside the sessions.
  • Proficient technique and teachability.

Adult-status Junior Squads

These sessions are typically for ages 14-18. They are geared towards doubles development for those members having 'Adult status'; a playing entitlement for juniors to take part in adult club tennis. It is typically reserved for juniors who demonstrate:

  • An appropriate age and maturity to interact with adults in teams and tournaments.
  • A proficient tactical and technical ability (especially on a doubles court).
  • A commitment to their club (membership, supporting junior teams / tournaments, taking part in the coaching programme / leadership schemes).
  • Competitive experience.

Player Development Centre (PDC) Squads

These sessions are typically for 8U to 14U. They are for players training and competing at County level and beyond, with aspirations to progress further.

  • This is a Tennis Wales registered 10U Performance Programme and includes training for players as they progress onto yellow ball.
  • Access is based on strict criteria, including commitment to training and competition schedules appropriate for each age group. Please ask if you'd like to see the entry and maintenance requirements for this programme at the various ages and stages involved.

Due to limited court space, we currently do not accept new players from outside the Tennis Squad network on an ‘access’ basis (i.e., those who undertake the bulk of their programme elsewhere).

Any parent wishing to enquire on their child's progress (or ask more about the steps involved in any of these activities) is always welcome to Contact Us.
