VTA Welcomes Tom to the Coaching Team

New Coach Announcement - Vale Tennis Academy appoints Tom Maye-Banbury as their new Lead Development Coach.

Tom joins the VTA coaching team from Swansea Tennis Centre, bringing a wealth of playing experience and a passion for grass roots tennis. He officially starts on Monday 23rd February, when he will be taking on a mix of junior and adult groups within our parks and club venues.

“I am really excited to join the Vale Tennis Academy Team as a Lead Development Coach. I am very eager to share my knowledge and impart my skills in Tennis to the community”. - Tom Maye-Banbury.

Tom passed his level 2 qualification in 2022 and worked as a part-time coach in the busy programme at Swansea Tennis Centre whilst studying Egyptology at Swansea University. Tom's playing background includes representing Leicestershire at Junior County Cup, a number of club and county level tournament wins, playing at Wimbledon and placing in the top 4 in the Road to Wimbledon and representing Swansea University Men's Team.

Tom joins VTA to start a full-time career in coaching and will be embarking on his journey to attain his Level 3 qualification later this year under the guidance of Rob Cunningham, Director of Vale Tennis Academy. "The timing for both Vale Tennis Academy and Tom couldn't have aligned better," said Rob. "With Spring just around the corner and plans to introduce new outreach and competition programmes, Tom's enthusiasm and passion for tennis is just what is needed to make these new initiatives a success".

We wish Tom the very best in his new role and welcome him to the team.
