Covid and Tennis - October Update

As lockdown restrictions evolve, the LTA’s guidance, in line with Government legislation and guidance, will shift in focus to ensuring that venues and coaches can provide COVID-19 secure environments, recognising the different operating contexts that organisations face.

As such, there are a number of key points that we wish all of our members to be aware of. Please see below.

No-one should leave home to participate in tennis if they, or someone they live with, has symptoms of COVID -19, currently recognised as any of the following:

  • A high temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss of, or change to, their sense of smell or taste
  • Should you have demonstrated any such symptoms, then please follow the NHS and PHE guidance on self-isolation

Checking-in to Westoning Tennis Club.

To support the NHS Test and Trace program, we have a created a unique venue QR code. Everybody who plays at the courts are encouraged to use the NHS app and scan the QR code. The poster containing the QR code can be found in the clubhouse, better known as 'the shed'.

The NHS app can be downloaded for free for iPhone here and Android devices here. To learn how to use the app to scan the QR code, please see instructions here.

For those that do not wish to use the app, Westoning Tennis Club will still need to maintain records of those who have used the courts. For this, we will use the membership booking details, automatically created when you book a tennis court. It is therefore imperative that you book a court at all times.

Playing Tennis

Please follow and adhere to the below. Many of the requirements are now legally enforced.

  • Please make use of the hand santizer provided in the shed. This must be used before and after using the courts.
  • To reduce the use of the net winder, the nets have left at the correct height and should not be adjusted.
  • Singles and doubles can be played with people from different households, as long as players remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – meaning that four people from different households can play doubles.
  • A group size is limited to a maximum of six people by law. This means you can play tennis providing people only meet up with no more than 5 other people from different households and observe social distancing guidelines.
  • People should not visit Westoning Tennis Club socially in groups of more than six.
  • Where attendance of a parent/guardian (non-participant) is required, or a carer for a disabled player, it is permitted, but should be off court and limited to one per player where possible
  • Supporters, parents, and other spectators should remain socially distanced whilst attending events. Spectator groups must be restricted to discrete six person gathering limits and spread out, in line with wider government guidance

We hope that you continue to have a great experience whilst playing at Westoning Tennis Club. If you have any concerns, questions or suggestions, then please email westoningtennis@icloud.com

Please stay safe and we hope you have a great Autumn and Winter season at the club.
