A SAFE PLACE TO PLAY FOR ALL
Westoning Tennis Club is committed to the safety and welfare of all of the members and non-playing members of our club.
We strive to safeguard the well-being of all young people and adults at risk who attend our venue and play at our club.
The club’s safeguarding policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children and adults at risk are paramount in all circumstances. We aim to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, socio-economic background, all children:
- Have a positive and enjoyable experience of tennis at Westoning Tennis Club in a safe and inclusive environment
- Are protected from abuse whilst participating in tennis.
We are working with the LTA to help ensure that this happens and as such, have launched a number of policies and procedures.
Ensuring that we continue to have a safe and inclusive place to play tennis is the responsibility of everybody. The process of reporting a concern is laid out in the following sections. However, please note that if a child or an adult at risk is in immediate danger or risk of harm, the police should be contacted by calling 999.
If you have a safeguarding concern within the tennis environment or are worried that a child is being abused outside the tennis environment (e.g. at home, school or in the community) but the concern is identified through the child’s involvement in tennis then you must report this as laid out in our Safeguarding Policy which is available in the clubhouse.
As a club, we are committed to encouraging and maintaining a culture where people feel able to raise a genuine safeguarding concern and are confident that it will be taken seriously. You can view our Whistleblowing Policy.
We are also proud to have a Diversity and Inclusion Policy that demonstrates our commitment to making tennis diverse and inclusive. The commitment to Diversity and Inclusion is upheld by all – Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Tennis Scotland, Tennis Wales and the Tennis Foundation.
We have appointed Scott Hague as our Safeguarding Office. He has undergone the necessary training package in relation to safeguarding and has a full DBS check. If you have any questions or would like to raise a concern, Scott can be contacted via email at westoningtennis@icloud.com or 07783 447470.
