Club Rules

Using the Courts

Accessing the courts

The courts are accessed via a combination lock (the number of which is communicated to members by e-mail). The reason for this is both to stop non-tennis players accessing the courts and possibly damaging them, and non-members using the courts, creating wear and tear which members then have to pay for.

  • Please ensure that you do not communicate the combination number to anyone else – all club members have access to it.
  • Parents are asked not to give out the number to their children.
  • The courts are only designed and built for playing tennis on. They should not be used for any other purpose.

Dress

All tennis playing members should be appropriately dressed at all times.

  • Footwear must have non-marking rubber (not-black).
  • Parents are asked to ensure that their children's footwear also meet these requirements.

Membership

All those entering the courts must have their membership cards (for the correct season) at all times.

  • If you cannot show a valid card, it is assumed that you are not a member.  You may be challenged at any time. To avoid embarrassment, please bring your membership card at all times.
  • There are opportunities for guest players. This must be arranged before playing begins.

Behaviour on court

This should be as in any other public place, respecting other players and ensuring fairness at all times.

  • Language should be appropriate as there are  residents in close proximity to the courts.
  • If tantrums occur among junior members, adults are asked to take appropriate action. Where necessary this should be brought to the parent’s attention and parents are asked to deal with it.

Use of flood lights

The use of floodlights out of club sessions must be paid for. Members are asked to submit payment to the treasurer. Honesty is expected as the club cannot police this, and non-payment means that all club members end up subsidising the non-payers.

Actions regarding misbehaviour

Where members are unhappy with others behaviour and cannot deal with it on the spot, then they are asked to raise it with a member of the committee. Anonymity will be respected.
