Bamford’s new tennis and pickleball court!

On Bank Holiday Monday Bamford Tennis Club welcomed over 100 friends and supporters, old and new, to celebrate the opening of our revamped 4th court.
It was a buzzing afternoon, starting with the cutting of the ribbon, followed by tennis, pickleball, tea and cake, and all set against the beautiful backdrop of Win Hill and Bamford Edge.
It has been a 12-month £20,000 fundraising journey to get to this point enabled by fundmatching from The National Lottery through Sport England’s Movement Fund. The £10,000 we raised ourselves is thanks to the generosity of players and businesses, from near and far, as well as the team of dedicated BTC volunteers who made it all happen.
Far from being an end, however, this is the start of something exciting too. This project focused not only on restoring everyone’s favourite court but also on developing opportunities for local young women and girls to play more tennis more often, and to bring pickleball to more older folk. We’re underway, and welcome newcomers if this sounds like it could be for you?
There are so many benefits, mental and physical, from playing tennis and pickleball at BTC. In the words of current members these include ‘having fun’, ‘socialising’, ‘keeping fit’ and ‘feeling good’.
Monday’s event showcased the best of BTC with heaps of volunteers pulling together to welcome other people interested in playing tennis or pickleball in our stunning setting.
Now is a great time of year to join, including our current 3-month trial membership for £25 for households for May, June and July. Details of this and all our other great value annual packages are on the membership page on our website.
See you on court soon?
