Lucy Beesley Shield – 30th May, 2021

Brilliant blue skies were the ‘icing on the cake’ for the fourth annually held Lucy Beesley Shield between BTC and the University on Sunday 30th May.

Postponed from the previous week after torrential rain, it turned out to be the most successful tournament so far, played with huge camaraderie, fun, energy and spirit – and just an ‘insy’ bit of competitiveness!   A huge testament to the way Lucy led her life as well as to our Club members and the University team.    For the first year since its inception, the Shield was won by the University team who put up a very strong team - our congratulations to them.  

The feel-good atmosphere was undoubtedly aided by plentiful supplies of home-made cake and prosecco served alongside our lovely court setting – this is what BTC is about.  

Proceeds from the day, which will likely exceed £200, will be donated to the Tessa Jowell Foundation (in collaboration with the Brain Tumour Research charity).
