Court 5 Works Complete

Court 5 has now been re-surfaced and painted up and is ready for play.

Huge thanks to the main contractors, Martin Gurr and his team, Gary Crook for the painting up of the courts to match court 4 and the Margaret Harker Hall Committee and footbal club for helping co-ordinate access across the recreation park.

The main works were completed just before the school holidays started, so minimised disruption to the recreation park users. The dry weather was a big factor in getting the work done quickly, albeit painting was delayed slightly due to a spell of wet (well torrential!) weather in early July.

With two high quality hard courts now availlable for members to enjoy throughout the year, we should not have any major court repairs/replacement costs for the next 15-20 years. We will be putting part of our future incomes into a sinking fund to ensure we have enough to repair/replace as we go forward so that the facilities remain of a high standard.

We still aim to replace the fencing around courts 1 & 2, purchase a replacement container to store equipment and are looking into irrigation systems to see if this will help to further improve the grass courts in view of the increasingly dry weather. These will be completed as and when funds allow, so the commitee are continuing to plan carefully to  progress these over time.

Enjoy the new surface - early feedback is that it plays as well as court 4.
