Doubles Box League
Our Doubles Box League runs throughout the summer and is a great way to enjoy regular doubles tennis in a relaxed but competitive environment. Players compete for individual points across the season, with the chance to progress into a knockout stage and finals day. The emphasis is on fun, variety, and match play, while still offering a clear structure and competitive edge.
How it works
Players are divided into 4 groups (boxes) of 5 players. Each player will:
- Play a minimum of 4 matches (sitting out 1 round)
- Have the opportunity to play up to 6 matches if they reach the knockout stages
- Rotate partners for each match
- Compete as individuals, not fixed teams
This format ensures you play with and against a variety of players, helping to develop all-round doubles skills.
Match format
All matches are played as:
- Best of 2 sets
- If sets are split (1–1), a 10-point match tie-break is played as the third set
Fixtures & organisation
- Players are responsible for organising their own matches
- Please do not leave arranging matches until the last minute
- Matches should be completed within the allocated round periods
Rounds take place across: May, June,July
Finals are held in: August
Scoring system
This is an individual points-based league, players accumulate points across all matches to determine standings within their box.
Points are awarded as follows:
- Win 2–0 → 4 points
- Win 2–1 → 3 points
- Loss 1–2 → 1 point
- Loss 0–2 → 0 points
At the end of the box stage:
- The top 2 players from each group progress to the knockout stage
- This creates an 8-player knockout draw consisting of Semi-finals and a Final to crown our champions
