The Grove Club Championship 2024

The annual club championship is upon us once again!  The sign up sheet will be on the Tournaments Board from 1 March until 24 March when entry closes.

The Club Championship starts with the draw which will take place on Sunday 7 April at the Start of the Season Event (so we hope to see as many of you there as possible) and Finals Day will be on Saturday 29 June.

We will running the following events:

Mens Singles

Mens Singles 50+

Ladies singles

Ladies singles 50+

Mens Doubles

Ladies Doubles

Mixed Doubles

Anyone knocked out in the first round will automatically be entered into the Plate Competition.  Please see attached Competition Rules for more information.

The provisional dates for each round are as follows:

1st round - 7 April to 5 May

2nd round - 6 May to 26 May

Qtr finals  - 27 May to 12 June

Semi finals - 13 June to 23 June

Final  -  29 June 

NB.  The dates may change depending on how many entries we receive.

All matches in the round must be completed by the end date for that round.  If this is not done both players or pairs will automatically be disqualified from the competition unless there are exceptional circumstances and an extension has prior written agreement via email from clubcaptains@grovetennisclub.co.uk. 

The format for the matches is 2 sets with a tiebreak to 7 at 6-6 if necessary.  If it is 1 set all after 2 sets there will be a championship tie break to 10 to decide the winner.  The winning player(s) must email the match score to the club captains as soon as possible after the match has been played.

If would like to enter the Championship the signing up sheet is on the Tournaments notice board in the Clubhouse and will be until the closing date for entries on 24 March 2024.  (NB. please do not enter if you are not going to be available for Finals Day - 29 June 2024)

On a final note, please will all last years winners please return their trophies to the Clubhouse by 1 June 2024.
