Tournaments and box leagues
At MPLTC, we hold tournaments throughout the year, including:
- An LTA tournament
- Summer and winter tournaments
- Fun social tournaments.
We post our tournaments to our events page. You can also follow us on social and subscribe to our emails to hear about the latest at Magdalen Park LTC.
LTA tournament
The LTA tournament takes place in the first May bank holiday each year. We welcome players from other clubs to take part in this competitive event.
Summer and winter tournaments
In summer and winter, we hold club tournaments, with a great variety of competitive and fun events, from open singles through to mixed vets 80+ (combined age) sections.
Social fun tournaments
We also have fun, inclusive mix-it-up tournaments, where mixed teams of varying levels play each other to win the trophy, and avoid the actual wooden spoon.
Box leagues are a great way to get more singles at the club whilst meeting new members.
Men's box league
Here's how the men's box league works:
- Each box has 5 or 6 players, and each player should aim to play each person
- Matches are best of 3 sets with championship tie break (first to 10, clear by 2) in place of a 3rd set
- Play at least 3 matches over a 3 month period to qualify to play in the next league.
If you’re unable to meet this commitment, we kindly ask that you do not enter. Players who do not play at least 3 matches will not be eligible to play in the next league.
Contact Nav Gupta or Matt Hilley for more information.
Ladies' box league
Currently, we do not have a ladies’ box league. If you’d like to volunteer to run a ladies league, Rich Collinson would be happy to advise on how to set this up and manage it.
