OTC hosted a tennis morning this Friday as part of the World's Biggest Coffee Morning. It was a first for the Club and seemed really well received by all.
The winning combination of a blue sky, bright sunshine and the promise of cake resulted in a fantastic turnout with all five courts being in play throughout the morning. The format was FAST4 meaning that there was a quick turnaround to play which ensured that everyone got to play a number of shortened matches and nobody was left drinking coffee and eating cake for too long ...
Claude generously sampled most of the cake offerings - it's a tough job - but despite his best efforts, was unable to choose an overall favourite. Ever the diplomat.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to all those involved in the event - the players, the bakers, the coffee makers, the spectators, the raffle prize givers and of course Claude of R2R who generously gave his time to oversee the event. There was a great show of players new and old from OTC, additionally, some players had made their way over from other local clubs to join and support the event and some injured and non-players simply came to watch and support. Quentin bravely took on the role of sole gentleman player.
It was, we hope you'll agree, a fun but relaxed morning, with just under £650 being raised for Macmillan.
Thank you to all and special mention to the following for kindly donating to the raffle:
The Rounded House, Waitrose Oundle, Foxtail Lily, Oundle News, White Vanilla, The Beauty Room, Colemans, The Oundle Bookshop.
