Alan Russell - Head Coach

Alan is a  proactive, enthusiastic and committed Tennis Coach with considerable experience of successfully developing and delivering outstanding tennis programmes.  He is capable of taking a lead role in developing club strategy and driving performance improvements through tennis programme delivery.

  • Tennis Scotland ‘Coach of the Year’ in 2018 and 2013
  • LTA ‘Coach of the Year’ runner-up in 2018
  • Active Schools Fife 'Coach of the Year' in 2019
  • Accredited+ LTA coach, qualified at Level 4
  • Managed Dunfermline’s tennis programme – coaching, competitions and team tennis - from 2010 until the end of 2019
  • Achieved 100% growth in club’s junior membership over three years (135 to 275)
  • Led the club's junior teams to 30 Team Tennis league wins
  • Through Schools and Community work, increased annual participation in the club programme to more than 3,300 in 2018-19
  • Coached players at senior and junior international level
  • Coached East of Scotland LTA junior county squads
  • Coaching experience at several tennis clubs, including Dunfermline, St Andrews, Kinross, Abercorn and Aberdour
  • Founder member of the East of Scotland Tennis Coaches Association
  • Licensed national grade referee (R3 grade)
  • Represented East of Scotland and Scottish Universities as a player
