📰 Event: Launch of the Yorkshire Visually Impaired Doubles League

🌟 A New Chapter for VI Tennis in Yorkshire

Following the success of last year’s pilot event, the Yorkshire Visually Impaired Doubles League officially launched its first full season at Hull’s Nuffield Health Tennis Centre. The league offers a platform for grassroots players across the region to compete, connect, and grow.

This opening event was the first of four competition dates planned for 2025. For some participants, it was their first-ever taste of competitive tennis, while others brought their experience and leadership, creating an inspiring mix of skills and backgrounds.

👥 Competition Format

Mixed doubles teams represented their local areas in three sight classification categories:

  • B1 – For players with the least sight
  • B2+ – For players with more vision (at least one B2 player per pair)
  • Open – For any sight category

Hull proved a fantastic host, with excellent facilities, a warm welcome, and an enthusiastic team of volunteers who supported the day with umpiring and ball collection duties.
