Match vs Knaresbrough

Wheldrake suffer Home Defeat to Knaresborough

Decent conditions at the start, no wind, but overnight rain made the bounce even lower than normal on the carpet surface.

Wheldrake were sporting 3 debutants (thank-you) to the team, who all acquitted themselves well. Chris and Paul won every point I watched, so maybe I should take a break more often! Well done to those guys, not easy playing with a brand new partner who doesn’t know your game. Sam, aged 12, made his debut and performed brilliantly to win 16 games, despite the handicap of playing with me! Hopefully we can field a team of u17s one week this season and surprise the opposition!

Colin and Stephen picked up a vital win at the end, well done Gents, as every point will count this season!

The wind picked up by match #3 and made the ball toss on serving interesting! Knaresborough had a strong #1 pair who were difficult to score against, with strong serves and volley play, but pairs #2 and #3 were beatable. Our tally of 41 games should have been rewarded with more points but that happens sometimes.
