COVID-19 Club Guidance

These are the new procedures taking place at Writtle Tennis Club from 17th May.

The new hard courts have been a big investment for the club, and it is important that we look after them. Please click below for further guidance.

Correct tennis shoes must be worn. Please can members arrival in their normal footwear and change into their tennis shoes. 

Buildings & Facilities

  • Writtle Sports and Social Club is re-opening. Opening times will be:
    • Tuesdays 8pm - 11pm
    • Saturdays 3.30pm - 9pm
    • Sunday 12pm - 3pm 
    • Hopefully from 21st June regular opening times will resume
  • Club toilets will be open and remain unlocked. They will be cleaned regularly
  • The hut (kitchen) is open. Social distancing applies 
  • The ball area will be accessible. The adjacent room is open. Please read below for more information
  • The new entrance uses the same code on the padlock; the wooden door has a keycode system,  use the same code as the padlock but preceded by a C and followed by Z.  C****Z.

Matches 

  • Our singles ladder is now open. Adults of all ages and abilities can join at any time.
  • Our doubles leagues are currently in discussion. TBC  

What to do:

  • WTC is set up as a venue for the NHS Test and Trace. On arrival ALL members and visitors must scan the QR code and check in.  Social Tennis still requires pre-booking via the website.  (if you do not have a smart phone, please use the log book on site)
  • Online court booking system must be used

  • 1 booking per member per day 
  • The ball area is accessible. Lock up as usual. Use the balls on the rack. Please use your own balls if you prefer. New canisters are only for matches 
  • The adjacent room is open 
  • Only bring essential belongings. Take your items to the court. Do not gather your items by the hut 
  • Lights key will still be in the light box 
  • You must bring your own drink or bottle
  • The nets need to be wound down after every use. This is essential to protect the new courts
  • There will be handwash and sanitiser available. It is highly recommended you bring your personal hand sanitiser and use it on arrival and departure
  • On exit, please use the antibacterial spray/ wipes to clean any surfaces. Also wipe down the gate handle and padlock 

Important Info:

  • Anyone attending a venue (including players, coaches, staff and any other visitors), should undergo a pre-attendance self-assessment for any COVID19 symptoms using the information on the NHS website before leaving home.
  • No-one should leave home to participate in tennis if they, or someone they live with, has symptoms of COVID -19, currently recognised as any of the following:
  •  A high temperature
  •  A new, continuous cough
  •  A loss of, or change to, their sense of smell or taste
  • Should an individual have demonstrated any such symptoms, they must follow NHS and PHE guidance on self-isolation
