Mixed Vets B -

We entertained a very sporting Lowestoft A team on sat 7th of July in our opening game of the season. In very warm and sunny conditions the visitors ran out 7 sets to 1 winners. The overall game score of 32 games to Acle and 44 to Lowestoft reflected that the match play was closer than the final result, several sets being lost by close margins. Its all about concentration and consistency, something that Lowestoft had in abundance. But I felt we had given them a good game and that there were several moments during the match when our team provided good point winning shots and rallies. Team Paul Chase, Colin Larby, Lan Whittle and Jane Jackson.

Mens B –

The B team have played three matches in the last ten days. The first two were against big hitting Cromer A and Taverham A with the third against Stanmore A. Ian, Tom, Graham and Joe lined up against Cromer A at home and were convincingly beaten 44-20. With Joe on International duty and Tom at his Prom, Mary Berry and Doctor Steve were called up again against Taverham A. After matching Joe and Graham’s early season performance against the Whitings they briefly rattled Matt Green and Ed Smith to finish the evening with a score 50% higher than their first appearance for the B team! Overall we lost 54-10.

The away match against Stanmore A received an early boost when Tom Watkinson was held up at Fritton and replaced by Greg Tyler. The General (Andrew Devaney) and Alastair, made guest appearances for the team and put in a sterling performance winning 19 games (they now have the joint best average for the B team). Ian (with a dodgy knee and back) and Tom (still recovering from a hangover) completed a convincing 41-23 victory. The B team are now on 5 points (5 points ahead of target!) and look forward to their next fixture against Acle A.
