  • Match Report

Ladies C – 39 v Aylsham B - 25

What a lovely evening for a tennis match and once again England were playing at the same time!!! This time however, we won and England didn't. Julia and Caroline got off to a great start winning 12-4 against a pair who hit the ball quite hard and produced some tricky slicing but Warren's coaching was ringing in our ears as we sailed home to a win. Lan and Helen looked to be having long rallies against the other pairing but won 10-6. At the change Jocelyne appeared to support the team but that didn't help Julia and Caroline, so off she went! A real mixture of play from this pair with one very strong serve but the slowest and highest bouncing returns you've ever seen and her partner taking any pace off every ball. Time to get a grip at 4-1 down. Gradually we made our way back to 4-4 before losing the last two games, 7-9. Lan and Helen played a good game against the second pair winning 10-6 again. Well done - only one match lost so far!

Mens D – 47 v Wymondham - 17

We travelled to Wymondham on Thursday 28th June and repeated our previous home win score of 47/17. Phil and Chris won12/4, 12/4 and Dave and James won 11/5  12/4. The gap between the two Acle pairs has closed in recent weeks and it’s just a matter of time [should Chris or Phil have a off night] that James and Dave will record a winning points tally. Meanwhile the chemistry is working and who said competition does not work. It’s a pleasure to be captain.
