LTA Youth Tennis Leaders Course 

Open up future opportunities in coaching, sport and beyond. 

The LTA Youth Tennis Leaders Course is a nationally recognised leadership programme designed to help young people develop confidence, responsibility, and key life skills through tennis. Delivered by Diyana Kasabova, LTA Qualified and Accredited+ Level 3 Tennis Coach, the course provides a supportive and inspiring environment for players aged 11 - 18 to grow both on and off the court. 

This course is ideal for junior players who enjoy tennis and would like to help others, gain valuable experience, or take their first steps towards coaching, officiating, or volunteering within the sport. 

 

What Will Young People Learn? 

Participants will develop a wide range of leadership and life skills, including: 

  • How to assist and support tennis sessions safely 
  • Effective communication and teamwork 
  • Confidence in leading simple activities and warm-ups 
  • Understanding fair play, respect, and inclusion 
  • How tennis sessions are planned, structured, and delivered 

The course combines practical on-court learning with off-court discussions, making it engaging, enjoyable, and accessible for all abilities, no matter their playing level.

What Participants Actually Do 

Young people complete a core leadership module and at least one elective module, allowing them to put their learning into practice in real tennis environments.

  • Assisting at club or school events 
  • Supporting venue or outreach activities 

 

Long-Term Pathways 

The LTA Youth Tennis Leaders Course is more than a one-off qualification - it is a pathway into future opportunities, including: 

  • A first step towards LTA coaching qualifications 
  • Preparation for roles such as assistant coach, official, teacher, or event organiser 
  • A strong foundation for leadership roles within sport and beyond 

 

Who Is the Course For? 

  • Young people aged 11–18 
  • Junior players currently attending Baseline Edge sessions 
  • Those interested in leadership, coaching, volunteering, or sport-related careers 

No previous coaching experience required.

How the Course Is Delivered 

The course is delivered over two days, with 2 hours of on-court training each day, followed by an additional 1 hour of practical experience at a future Baseline Edge programme session.
