LTA Grade 1 11U

Corby Tennis Centre was proud host to an 11U Grade 1 LTA event from 22nd -
27th October. This is the first time Corby has been asked to host such a
prestigious event, which attracts 64 players from all over Great Britain,
and features the very best players in the Country.

The girls singles final was played between Milica Sakamoto-Milojevic
(Middlesex) and Tanisha Naveen (Warwickshire), and was won by Milica 7-5
6-0. She raced off to a good start and led 4-1 in the first set, but
Tanishka pulled back to get level at 5-5, but Malica then won the next 8
games in a row to seal a good win.

The boys singles final was between Harry Swain and Frederick Fabricius.
Harry took a 4-1 lead in the first set, when Frederick had to have an injury
time out for a few minutes to sort out a wrist problem. After the break, it
was neck and neck until Harry took the first set 6-4. Spurred on by getting
back into the first set, Frederick took the second set 6-3 to draw the match
level. It was still all square at 3-3 in the third set, when he took command
of the match, and closed out the last set 6-4 to take the title.

The next event at Corby Tennis Centre is an LTA Grade 2 16U & 18U, both
taking place from 28-30th October, and will again feature many of the best
juniors in Great Britain..
