27th June 2024 - Entries for the Annual Drummond Tournament are NOW OPEN!

Please head to the membership page to join the annual tournament. Entries are open until 7th July 2024. All details about the tournament can be found HERE.

Our Annual Friendly with Falcon Tennis Club is on the 19th May 2024. Your contact is Gavin Macdonald.

For the last few years Drummond have teamed up with the Falcon Tennis and
Bowling Club in Morningside for a Sunday social competition.

Falcon is one of the very few clay court clubs in Edinburgh other than us, but with
three courts to our two they are better placed to host, and we are delighted to
announce that this tradition will be continued into 2024.

This year's competition will take place on Sunday 19 th May. Participants should aim
to arrive at 1:15 - 1:30 for the draw (in past years we have paired Drummond men
with Falcon women, and vice versa, for mixed doubles - a formula which works
well).
The tennis itself will go from 2:00pm to roughly 5:00pm. The format will be a round
robin competition, first to ten points, with a tie-break if necessary to win by two,
followed by a knockout format to reach the final. Then from 5:00pm Falcon will
provide food, drink and prizes.

Please note this is social tennis. Your enthusiasm is valued above expertise!
We are looking for a team of twelve Drummondites - six men and six women to
compete. If interested, please put your name forward promptly as the event proved
very popular last year.

To enter please respond directly to Gavin on gavinjmac@me.com
£5 entry per person will cover costs and the remainder will go to charity.

Friendly Fridays 2024 are now running

Every Friday evening from 6.00pm onwards is Drummond’s social tennis night. This is an
evening of fun and friendly (mainly mixed) doubles match play, where members can get to
know each other and enjoy the sunny Scottish nights! These evenings also present a great
opportunity for players of all different levels to mix in and socialise.

Friendly Fridays are for Drummond members only, however non-members are more than
welcome to come along for a few sessions (but will need to pay a visitor fee of £5) to get a feel of the club before deciding about joining. If you would like to do so, please email info@drummondtennisclub.co.uk.

To keep the evening flowing and to ensure that everyone gets to have a hit, we ask that short
sets are played. This is when the set is played to 4 games instead of 6, with one pair winning
with a 2-game margin. If the score in games is 4-4, a 5-point tiebreak is played. After the set
is completed, everyone mixes in and plays with someone different.
So whether you are a complete beginner, a budding Sinner or Świątek, or just looking for an
excuse to dust off your racquet, we would love to see you there!
