It's been a fantastic summer at Drummond - leaving little time to update this webpage, A priceless Olympic themed night included a Closing Ceremony with the Olympic Flame in the form of the Drummond Sparkler in the capable hands of the Mackay family making its way (eventually) from the viewing deck  along the veranda and round the corner of the Clubhouse corner and off to LA. 

Adult and Junior Coaching start up again this week. Check the website Coaching Page and the Planner for details. Sunday Beginner (5-6pm) and Sunday Improver Sessions (new time of 12-1) restart Sun 8th of September for 5 weeks.

The last of the lead up matches to the finals are being played this week. Here are are the provisional times for the weather dependent lead up matches. This is just a rough guide. We cannot guarantee anything...but if you do turn up and are disappointed, why not empty the dishwasher, take away the recycling...or the towels for laundering to avoid a wasted journey...

Lovely evening at the Wine and Whites Social Tennis yesterday.  Great to meet new members and especially nice to have some prospective members turn up who had found the event on the website...and to know that at least someone reads our carefully maintained webpages.

Rumours that the entire membership have unsubscribed from emailings are greatly exaggerated. You are currently ALL subscribed.  Apologies for any alarm caused.

The final Men's 3rd Team report is in. Just a couple of Men's 2nd Team matches to be played and that will be the ESLTA League play completed.  Drummond LTC / ESLTA League Team Reports

The Summer Court Planner comes into play from now with lots of evening slots available July-September.

• Throughout July Mon- Fri Mornings 9-12 are Junior Summer Camps. Adult Summer Camps 12-1.  Junior Camps need to be booked through the link on the Club Website Coaching Page. Adults can just turn up and pay per session Drummond LTC / Coaching (lta.org.uk)  Members and non members welcome.
• July until close of courts Nov/ Dec   Saturday (Men's) and Sunday (Women's) 'Team Practices' are now 'Social Competitive Tennis' and all who can keep a fluent game going who wish to play Men's or Women's competitive doubles on the respective days are welcome to attend. A Grounds Check should be completed by members attending on a Saturday and the Club House Checks by those attending on a Sunday. Checksheets to sign are on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.

• Social Tennis continues Fri 6-8pm. Next organised Social Event is 3pm onwards Sat 20th July. Details will follow.

• Wednesday Lunchtime Social Tennis stops in July/Aug - but you are free to use the WhatsApp group to co-ordinate court booking and ongoing social play until the slots resume.

Drummond Club Championships 'The Tournament' information has been emailed. Head to the membership page to place your entry, Closing Date is Sunday 7th July. £5 per entry. You  must be a member to enter.

Our Annual Friendly with Falcon Tennis Club is on the 19th May. Your contact is Gavin Macdonald. 

FREE TEA....AND DELICIOUS CAKES... 

For the last few years Drummond have teamed up with the Falcon Tennis and
Bowling Club in Morningside for a Sunday social competition.

Falcon is one of the very few clay court clubs in Edinburgh other than us, but with
three courts to our two they are better placed to host, and we are delighted to
announce that this tradition will be continued into 2024.

This year's competition will take place on Sunday 19 th May. Participants should aim
to arrive at 1:15 - 1:30 for the draw (in past years we have paired Drummond men
with Falcon women, and vice versa, for mixed doubles - a formula which works
well).
The tennis itself will go from 2:00pm to roughly 5:00pm. The format will be a round
robin competition, first to ten points, with a tie-break if necessary to win by two,
followed by a knockout format to reach the final. Then from 5:00pm Falcon will
provide food, drink and prizes.

Please note this is social tennis. Your enthusiasm is valued above expertise!
We are looking for a team of twelve Drummondites - six men and six women to
compete. If interested, please put your name forward promptly as the event proved
very popular last year.

£5 entry per person will cover costs and the remainder will go to charity.

• Just a reminder about the slot set aside for Lunchtime Social Tennis 12-2 today. A (non-playing) Committee member will be around at 12 for a bit but this is just a turn up and mix in session. It would be good to have a WhatsApp group for this. Please let info@drummondtennisclub.co.uk if you are interested in doing this.
• If you have put any furniture on the lawn please put this away again when you have finished with it.
• The mixed recycling bin is for clean recyclables only. Wherever possible please take away your own recycling/ or take the whole bag to recycle appropriately!

We’ve got cheese, wine, salad, crunchy vegetable batons, crackers and crusty bread … please bring whatever else you would like to eat or drink … or a dish to share. Some home-made chutney would work well!

Drummond Opening Party and the first Friendly Friday Social Tennis of the season will kick off at 6pm on Friday 26th April.

Members free. Non members £5 on the day or pay through the Guest Membership Category on the website.

EXCITING!! The first Wed Lunchtime Social Tennis 12-2    (24th April)  will be hosted! Hoping lots of you can go along. Probably safest if you can bring your own balls.

The courts are now open for member play! Book using the Booking tab. You need to be logged in or you will get the little padlocks. Some of the ClubSpark issues have been due to members having two LTA logins.

Check the Planner regularly as we are freeing up evening slots for general member play wherever possible.

Wed Lunchtime Social Tennis 12-2 - If there are no further updates, this session will just be turn up and mix in. If you would like to facilitate this first session please email info@drummondtennisclub.co.uk
