Club Champs Finals Results

Club Champs Finals Weekend Newsletter

Thank you to all who have entered and played the Club Champs this year. It has yet again provided Fran and I with plenty of challenges. Although numbers were up this year in many categories, there were a record number of withdrawals which did cause a few headaches.

There will be a few modifications next year!

Despite all of the challenges it has been a great competition, particularly  seeing so many newcomers playing to such a high standard.

A special mention goes to Vince Ford who was in 4  finals! Well done Vince! He played in two mixed doubles championships with people he had not played with before the tournament.

The weather held on both days with the Saturday   matches being played under bright blue skies

Sunday was slightly delayed but all matches were completed except for the women’s doubles finals. In part due to matches being incomplete and in part due to an error on my part in calculating the winners.

Thanks to Bar 89 for opening up on the Sunday and providing much needed respite against the colder/ wetter morning. Thank you for the few who came to watch!

What would encourage people to come down?

This is great for all standards and a great way to play against different people we organise the boxes you organise the matches.

  • All three sets must be played at one point in time as agreed by the group
  • At the end of each month individual player scores are tallied.
  • One player will move down a box, one player will move up and two remain in the same box.
  • The league will run monthly   from mid-October until April 2025  More details will be on the notice board

The Winter Leagues are about to start. If you would like to be considered, we will be sending out some information about team trials.
