Lights, camera, action!

Following extensive work by Ram and the House & Grounds team, we are delighted that the practice lights on Court 10 are now up and running. Along with the work completed on Court 9 earlier this year, this means that we have an extra two courts playable in the evenings. Congratulations and thank you to the House & Grounds team who have been instrumental in making this happen.

As a community-led tennis club, we are run entirely on a voluntary basis and rely on our members to contribute their time and skills both on and off the court. There are numerous ways for members to get involved, from hedge trimming and court rolling to bartending and barbequing! We invite members new and old to join our friendly team of volunteers and enjoy some active socialising while making a real difference to the club's playing environment.

We are actively looking for volunteers in the following areas:

House & Grounds team
On the first Sunday of every month, the H&G team meets at the club for a few hours in the morning to tackle any urgent maintenance or repair jobs. Tasks can include shrub pruning, weeding, moss clearing, shed painting, plus general upkeep of the courts and clubhouse. Ideal for those handy with gardening/ DIY and not afraid to get their hands dirty! Contact: Neil Glasspool (neilglasspool@blueyonder.co.uk) indicating the type(s) of tasks that you would like to help out with.

Bar staff
The clubhouse bar is open Tuesday-Thursday from 7pm and (when possible) Friday from 7pm. It is also open Saturday/ Sunday 9.30am-1pm and (when possible) after the Sunday mix ins. We are looking for members available at some or any of these times (and for occasional one-off events) to join our small team. No experience required - all training will be given. There is no expectation for volunteers to sign up to a regular commitment, just to offer an evening or afternoon at a time convenient for you. Contact: Tom Rutter (tommy_rutter23@hotmail.com) to express your interest.

Mix in facilitators
Regular participants in our weekday or Sunday mix ins will appreciate the role of the organiser in making the sessions run smoothly, ensuring that everyone has a good game. The facilitator will set up the doubles pairs and their opponents, switching players around after every round (usually 20 minutes or 8 games). If you have enjoyed a few mix ins, please do consider volunteering to facilitate a future session. Contact: Neil Glasspool (neilglasspool@blueyonder.co.uk) with the days and times you would be available:
Tuesdays 7pm-9pm (men's social)
Wednesdays 7pm-9pm (ladies' social)
Sundays 2pm-5pm (mixed social)

Thank you in advance for your help!
