Our next tournament is on Saturday, June 14th, 2025
Entries will open next March, if you would like to be on the mailing list please let us know @colnvalleytournament@gmail.com
ABOUT THE DAY
Hill & Valley Tennis Club is well known locally and further afield for the annual Coln Valley Mixed Doubles Open Tournament, a special day of social and competitive tennis.
Around 100 entrants take part and play on private courts kindly loaned for the day by residents in the surrounding villages of Chedworth, GL54 4NE.
The event raises funds for the tennis club and local churches in the Hill & Valley Benefice.
We are very grateful to our main sponsor Tanners Solicitors and to Pooky Lighting for sponsoring the balls.
The competition is a Mixed Doubles Open Tournament, the morning Round Robins are played to a Sliding Handicap so you can enjoy the tennis whatever your standard. The top pairs will qualify to compete for the Speke Cup and play a further group Round Robin in the afternoon. Those who would like continue to play can compete for the Scott-Smith Salver. Both afternoon sessions will lead to knockout finals on the club courts in Chedworth and we encourage players to show their support by watching and enjoying a glass of pimms.
Coffee, Hot Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Cakes are included in the entry fee.
A raffle is run and drawn at lunchtime, there are some excellent prizes generously donated.
Weather permitting, all players should be able to enjoy a full day of tennis. If the weather is inclement we will still attempt to play as much tennis as possible and give everyone an enjoyable day. Being a catered event we would only cancel in very exceptional circumstances.
Please allow a full day, we aim to have the finals completed by 6 .30pm but this can run over if play is delayed for any reason.
AskSal tennis clothing and accessories will be there from 12-6pm
