WINTER

Stroud Mixed Doubles Sunday Winter League
Captain, Claire Watson 07506833465 cjb@atlas.co.uk
We have one team in this league which is a more relaxed league but still provides competitive tennis throughout the winter.  For the 2022-2023 season there will be three divisions, each with five teams (four home and four away matches) and we will be playing in Division 2. Matches take place on Sunday mornings, our home fixtures are at 10.00am. Note that for the four home matches the courts will not be available for booking between 10.00 am – 1.30pm. Please click on the tab above for all the info and results for the 2021-2022 year.

The LTA Dunlop Gloucestershire Ladies' Over 60's League
Ladies' Captain, Helen Owen 07816 825360 theowens.hatherop@googlemail.com

We have entered the Over 60s League for 3 Winter seasons now and have managed to climb our way up to Division 2, having had a lot of fun on the way. We are always looking for new players, who have reached this ripe age (you never know we may even make 2 teams).  There are seven teams to a division so six home and six away fixtures, played on weekdays, usually morning or lunchtime  from October to March. Please click on the tab above for more info and last season's results.  If you are interested in playing in this friendly, relaxed league for next season, please contact our Captain Helen Owen so she can add you to the list. theowens.hatherop@googlemail.com

H&V CLUB TOURNAMENTS
We run several tournaments during the year, see below.

Coln Valley Tournament
This is our main event of the year.  Held every June, it began in 1982 and is well known locally and further afield.   A traditional mixed doubles tournament open to members and non-members to compete for the Speke Cup and the Scott-Smith Salver.  Around 100 entrants take part and play on courts kindly loaned for the day by residents in surrounding villages.  The event raises funds for the tennis club, local churches in the Hill & Valley Benefice and the Allison Stock Fund.  Coffee, lunch and tea are served at the village hall and the finals are held on the club courts.  Click on tab above for more info.

American Mixed Doubles
An informal and social mixed doubles club competition played to the American Doubles format followed by tea.

Allison Stock Day
An annual club event to celebrate the life of Allison Stock, our former tennis captain and committee member and the contribution she made to the club. In 2019 this took the form of a ladies’ tournament followed by high tea in the Village Hall to which all members were invited.  It is hoped each year we can provide a slightly different format to the day to fully reflect the ‘wholehearted commitment’ Allison gave to the Club.

John Robson Rose Bowl
A fun mixed doubles club tournament for members to compete for the wonderful John Robson Rose Bowl. John Robson made a significant contribution to the club both as a coach and committee member over many years.  Many of our younger members learned to play tennis with him.

LOCAL TENNIS LEAGUES
If you are looking for opportunities to play friendly competitive tennis then you might like to join The Local Tennis Leagues organisation, is endorsed by the LTA but is independent.  It is a mixed sex, singles and doubles league, groups are put together by standard and there can be any combination of men and women in a group.  Our club is a venue for matches opponents just have to pay a guest fee of £5.  More info HERE
